Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400F.
  • Mix thoroughly: butter (or margarine), eggs, and sugar.
  • Stir in sifted flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
  • Roll into balls the size of walnuts or use a medium cookie dough scoop. Then roll in a mixture of cinnamon & sugar.
  • Place about 2 inches apart on a sprayed cookie sheet.
  • Bake 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned but still soft.

Notes

If you want just a touch of crunch on the rim of the cookie while keeping the middle soft, I recommend going 10 minutes. If you like your cookies a little more well done, bake closer to 12 minutes.
After you pull the cookie sheet out of the oven, let the cookies cool at least 5 minutes before trying to move them to a cooling rack.
